Inauguration of the 2025 MUS-E project Workshops to bring art closer to children in the province of Salerno
La Doria confirms its support for the initiative, which this year will also include a secondary school.
In 2025, 200 children from 12 classes in two schools in Angri and Sarno will participate.
Angri (SA), February 5, 2024 – For the second consecutive year, the artistic workshops of the Mus-e project have started in the schools of Angri and Sarno, in the province of Salerno. Promoted by the Fondazione Mus-e Italia ETS and supported by La Doria—a leading producer of tomato derivatives, sauces, legumes, and fruit juices for large-scale distribution—the workshops are designed to foster creativity, inclusion, and personal development, especially in socially complex environments.
This year, the three-year project involves 200 children from the primary school of the “D.E. Smaldone” Comprehensive Institute in Angri, as well as both the primary and lower secondary schools of the “Sarno Episcopio” Comprehensive Institute in Sarno. Participants will be guided by expert artists in workshops on ceramics, theatre, expressive movement, and clowning, all held during school hours.
This year, the initiative also includes the lower secondary school, specifically through a theatre program for two classes that will culminate in an end-of-year performance in front of classmates and families.
The ceramics workshop focuses on the transformative power of manual work, using clay modeling to stimulate creativity and the ability to cope with challenges. The theatre workshop uses storytelling and improvisation exercises to encourage mutual listening and self-exploration. The expressive movement sessions work on the harmony between body, environment, and sound to promote a connection with space. Lastly, the clowning workshop offers an experience combining play, self-awareness, and teamwork.
“We are proud to renew our support for a project that has such a tangible impact on people, especially children,” said Antonio Ferraioli, CEO and President of the La Doria Group. “This initiative, which we’ve decided to extend to middle schools starting this year, reflects our commitment to education, inclusion, and social sustainability, with a particular focus on our local area. Through the Mus-e project, we can contribute to the cultural and personal growth of children, in line with our social responsibility and sustainability goals.”
“Bringing art into education and teaching means offering children new tools to express themselves, grow, and develop their potential—especially in complex and densely populated contexts like the Salerno-Naples conurbation. We are proud to renew our commitment to this area by expanding the project to the delicate preadolescent age group,” commented Maria Garrone, President of Mus-e Italia ETS. “This journey would not be possible without the support of an excellent partner like La Doria, an internationally recognized industrial group that shares our vision of inclusive and accessible education. Together, we want to show that investing in culture and art means investing in the future of our communities.”
Introduced in Italy in 1999, the Mus-e program is completely free of charge and has so far involved 12,000 children, 572 classes, and 185 artists nationwide. The program lasts three years and runs for about 20 weeks during regular class hours. Its extended duration allows for a unique long-term path that helps children build trust with the artists. At the same time, the group activities help participants feel part of a community, while also growing as individuals.
